Your #1 pick for single engine WWII fighter

So far threads have been rack and stack lists of what member's favorite type diecast aircraft in various scales might be. It made me wonder what it would look like it you where limited to one plane and one plane only as a choice. Choice guidelines are based on the following:
1. Any single engine WWII fighter, current models may not be correct variant, scale or possible quality issue with current models available.
2. Since looking for diecast picks, try to stick with scales 1/72nd, 1/48th and 1/32nd.
3. Yep, one plane and one plane only, no lists.

My number one pick would be the P-36/Hawk 75 and in 1/48th scale. This aircraft would be a unique selection in that it had a very broad selection of countries that used it, which would make for large variety of paint schemes. Some of the possible country paint schemes could be United States, Great Britain, China, Netherlands, Norway, Thailand (This variant had fixed landing gear.), Finland, France and Vichy France. The P-36 is a sharp looking aircraft and would make a great addition as a diecast model. Ok so what would your choice be?

Why...the P-39 Airacobra in 1/48 scale of course (only because I need to fill this gaping hole in my collection)! But my favorite aircraft is the F4U-1A Corsair. A good one is sorely needed in 1/48 scale.

Re: Your #1 pick for single engine WWII fighter

I need a 1/48th scale P-39 as well. There is just something cool about that. Also a great example of a 1/48th scale P-51D is missing as well.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

I had a feeling you would be an advocate of the Mustang - mustangdriver! And I see we are both P-39 fans too!

I would really like to see a well made F4U Corsair in 1:48 or 1:32.

A supremely detailed F4-U Corsair -- preferably with folding wings (one can dream).
