Re: Your #1 pick for single engine WWII fighter

Intended to see what WWII single engine fighter members would like to see in diecast. Thought it would be simple to limit choice to one plane for ease in keeping track of. Did not close it out to aircraft already produced, because I have come across numerous comments with member dissatisfied with the current pickings. My first pick hopefully would have been a lead in do to fact that there is no current diecast model of it (Well, actually there is one, and it should be mailbox tomorrow or Friday, nothing fancy, but it will be a 1/72nd scale diecast P-36.). So to clear any confusion, if you had the call on the next diecast WWII single engine fighter coming out this would be your pick.

Scales and specific aircraft model type would be nice.

CC, are you saying there is currently a 1/72 scale P-36 diecast model available?

Ah well in that case it would have to be the Curtis Hawk P36, well to be honest I would like the XP-40 but I would probably the only one in the universe that would want that one, or an XF14C-2.

Yep, I came across it awhile back, but it was not until recently I was able to purchase one. Model is diecast and produced by a little Mom&Pop type manufacturer, so not sure how good or bad the quality will be. I am hoping at best for marginal IXO quality. Planes markings are that of #86 flown by Lt. Rasmussen, and will post some shots when it gets in.

The XP-40 would be a sharp looking model. As far as the XF14C-2 goes, well,, You could always get the resin 1/72nd scale Unicraft kit of it.

Hi CC,

I'd like an A6M5 Zero in 1/48.

Overall green w/ white surrounds.

Kit price at $30.00 dollars is fairly reasonable. It is a complete resin kit with vacuform canopy. Looks like it has decals for two separate aircraft.

That's what I'm going to do regarding the Bristol Blenheim Mk I. Sure, we're getting the Mk IV in 2008, but the Mk I is a FAR BETTER looking kite than the Mk IV. Model was under $30 bucks, including the vacu-form replacement canopy. Time to dust off those ol' model buildin' skills!! Object of the game: To make this model look like it is a Corgi aircraft within my current early 40s collection. That will be easy AND tricky -- all at the same time! What fun!
