The Germans got pretty desperate in the last months of WW II with the Red Army closing in on them. Rumor has it that the SS was training Berlin's pigeons to become suicide dive bombers armed with explode-on-contact anti-tank grenades. Experiments with the so-called "Pigeonwaffe" were reportedly slowed down by Hitler's insistance on equipping the pigeons with dive breaks to improve their aim. The pigeons didn't like that idea and most of them defected to the Allies in a mass escape. Might be a good subject for a History Channel documentary.

After looking at Valiant, I think that this might be a great subject for Dragon's next diecast venture. Of course, the dive bombing pigeons would look pretty small in 1:72 scale, but imagine all the dioramas they could offer showing the Pigeonwaffe attacking Soviet T-34 tank columns. I'll bet that collectors who have waited so long for all of the other stuff Dragon promised us, would gobble--no pun intended--these up.
