THE DIRTY DOZEN--remake

A remake of THE DIRTY DOZEN, Robert Aldrich's hit World War II movie, is underway. The original starred Lee Marvin, Donald Sutherland, Charles Bronson, Jim Brown, Telly Savalas, John Cassavetes, Ernest Borgnine, George Kennedy and Robert Ryan.

Re: THE DIRTY DOZEN--remake

Good luck to whoever is doing a remake. I don't think any remake will ever be as good as the original.

With todays movie making being so much computer generated graphics, it will most likely be so off the wall that it will be an insult to anyone who was a part of the origional movie.

SKYDRIVER:

I posted here earlier that Peter Jackson (LORD OF THE RINGS, KING KONG) is producing a remake of THE DAMBUSTERS about the RAF Lancaster raid on the Ruhr dams. Jackson said CGI was going to be a vital factor in the movie.

Also, check out my post about the CGI dogfight between a P-51 and a BF-109 in HART'S WAR. It looks pretty good to me.

STARMAN352ND:

I bet Rosie O'Donnell could beat the crap out Jim Brown, Lee Marvin and Charles Bronson with one hand tied behind her hairy back

PS...If I'm not mistaken, the last time I watched my THE DIRTY DOZEN dvd, there's an M3 Jeb Stuart tank shown. You don't see many of those in the movies.

The following site says it all.

DIRTY DOZEN, the remake? Do they really think they can make a better film than the original? -- Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.

And with respect to Dragon53, I am not against CGI effects, I just am against crap scenes that hollywood throws out that is so unreal that it takes away from the movie...Case in point, King Kong which I thought was one of the worst movies with regards to graphics that I have ever seen. T

That being said, I also realize that CGI is an important part of filmmaking as noted in Dragons post about the P-51 vs BF-109 in Hart's war.
