An Illustrious class ship by the look of it. If your saying "Plucky" then I would say it's either Illustrious or Formidable. Both were heavily damaged in the med.

Ooops!

Right. It's the Illustrious, which figured prominently in the Malta convoy battles.

Re: Quiz: Can You Name This Ship?

This is the German Admiral Hipper class heavy cruiser. Three completed- Admiral Hipper, Blucher, and Prinz Eugen. Prinz Eugen was actually a slightly different design. There were also two additional units, one, Lutzow transfered incomplete to the Soviet Union and was never finished and another, Seydlitz, whose hull was used for a carrier conversion but work was stopped at a very early stage.

Two of these can still be visited. Blucher sits on the bottom of a fjord in Norway near Oslo. Prinz Eugen was used as a target ship at Bikini and now sits upside down at Kwajalean Island in the Pacific.

Correct and I used to live on Kwajelien and you could see the stern from lagoon side of the Island.

Layout looks similar to British J, K and N Class DD.

Britsh Leander class light cruisers. Five built to this design- Achilles, Ajax, Orion, Leander, and Neptune. Design was modified later and additional units built for the Australian Navy as Perth, Hobart, and Sydney though these had multiple funnels.

And you are correct again!!

Re: Quiz: Can You Name This Ship?

Too easy because you left the name on the picture. Japanese Fubuki class. 10 built to this design with another 14 built to modified designs.

Oops, but you caught it which still makes you correct!

This is a famous Royal Navy destroyer. But here I'm looking for a specific name. Hint: It was sunk by the Luftwaffe during the British evacuation of Crete in 1941.
