Different way to display your airplanes

Just perusing some online vendors and came across a novel way to display models. This wallmount is intended for wood display models but I can't see a reason why someone (especially here) wouldn't have the ingenuity to modify the mount to hold a diecast plane. I think this would be great for a den or mancave, especially because it would put the models out of the way. The only drawback I can see is the holes left in one's walls if you decided no longer wanted to display your planes this way.

What do you all think?

And if the diecast model fell off it, that would have disastrous consequences. Personally, I'd be reluctant to do that.

Wouldn't the same be true if the mahogany model fell off it? I'm actually more interested in the way the model is displayed more than the actual mount that is pictured. IMHO, it's kinda interesting to see it displayed this way instead of on a shelf or bookcase. It'd make a neat display if you had varying lengths on the display arm. Imagine a Blue Angels or Thunderbirds or even a bomber formation....be kinda cool, no?

Personally, I don't have any mahogany models. So I don't know how well they break when dropped or thrown. And I don't want to find out either!

Me neither regarding owning a mahogany model or finding out! The density and weight of a mahogany airplane versus the density ..........oh hell, let's not get technical! I think you know what I mean..........

Re: Different way to display your airplanes

I have several mahogany airplanes ( don't worry die cast fans, I got them because they were a steal ) and I saw one of these wall mounting holders at an air show where I purchased one of my mahogany airplanes ( F-16 Thunderbird ).

Overall, they are a unique way to mount them, but realistically you would want to mount them high up so that no one bumps into them, Thus, you loose most of the visual appeal of the airplane because all you really see is the underside of the airplane.

Always, Always, Always, No matter what...Confirm the amount of fuel in your tanks before you takeoff!

Aha! Point taken.......I've bumped into quite a few walls and furniture in the dark. Especially after a night of !

Re: Different way to display your airplanes

I probably hit my head on one of them while I was chasing my puppy around the house. Or else I'd trip on one of his toys and then hit my head on the model.

Re: Different way to display your airplanes

I have hung some models using fishing line.

The fishing line shows up in the photo, but does not show up under most normal lighting.

They have been hanging for 6 months and nothing has dropped....yet
