Lost P-38 found in shallow water - off a beach in Wales!?

A P-38 fighter that was forced to ditch off a Wales (UK) beach in 1942 has been found. A family discovered the fairly intact wreck, in shallow water, July 31, 2007 when shifting sands exposed the aircraft. TIGHAR and British authorities hope to recover the aircraft and are keeping its location a secret and under watch to prevent looting. Recent storm activity has since recovered the wreck.

Do you think we may see another "Glacier Girl" recovery?

Don't let skunky see this, he will be down there trying to get it to fly like that guy that found parts of the f-14 not long ago. If you guys see a p -38 with a skunk painted on the side of it at an airshow don't say I did not warn ya I bet he will have his poor buddy jim helping him out with this one!!!!

Great find. It will be interesting to see who gets to claim it.

My big question is how much of the bird is left? I really don't have any clue, but I'm curious how quickly she was covered in sand. That would have kept it in decent shape I would think?

Anything for a weird life.

Wow.

You don't find that washed up on a Welsh beach every day.
