| For those who have been to AAM Duxford For those of you who have been recently, I need to know if the B-24 Dugan has matural metal finish on the outside of the tails or are they painted white. I'm talking the side with the black bar and white C. I know the inner surface is NMF, but have not seen a pic of the outer side. Thanks in advance!! | |||||||||||||

| Re: For those who have been to AAM Duxford
Good & helpful shot there Sniper ! When I first read Shawn's post this morning, I couldn't believe how unfortunate the timing was, as I'd been standing with a mate for ages, next to 'Dugan', ironically on the 14th of last month (Oct) - but we spent more time looking round 'Mary-Alice', the adjacent B.17 (the 'Ex' I.G.N. machine, painted up to represent the REAL 'Mary-Alice') Came as a suprise to find out that she's painted up in 392nd B.G.'s colours - my local B.24 base (Wendling/Beeston) where I've been countless times in the past (sacred ground !!!!!!) walking, cycling round the derelict base. Also ironic, as today I handed back a Library-book on the 392nd B.G. which I've had for (absolutely) ages, from the 2nd A.Div Library in Norwich...... (& no, there weren't any pix of 'Dugan'. The B.24 on the front-cover was an O/d bird, with THE White tail & black bar - as the unit tail markings were on White tail-fins (they'd need to be, to stand out against the 'Olive-drab') I'd agree with you Sniper - that it's N.M.F (silver) with the Black-bar already being 'highlighted' against the metal. Other pictures in the book show Silver B.24's with (what appears) Silver outer Tail-fins & Black-bar (392nd B.G.) 'unit-identifiers', as well as the a/c's individual 'Letter' (example, 'T' , 'O' + or 'V' bar ) | ||||||||||||||
