And now for something completely different:

Here's my (complete) collection of Hallmark "Sky's the Limit" airplane ornaments. Anybody else collect these? Even though they are not in the same scale, and are made of plastic, my wife bought me my first three, so she tolerates them more than diecast aircraft.

Re: And now for something completely different:

I don't collect them, per se, but I was given the green and yellow one. They are nice.

I have those as well but I'm missing the SC racer, Spirit of St.Louis and the Wright Flyer. I wish Hallmark would do a new series for the 30's biplanes, though.

Thanks for the Hallmark show. I never go into their stores, (the perfumed candles finish me off in about 30 seconds), so I've never seen them. Good grief, the GeeBee, a Beach Staggerwing, a Stinson and The Spirit of St. Louis, among olthers, indicates that someone at Hallmark really wants to send their very best.

Re: And now for something completely different:

I never picked up the Jenny, Wright Flyer, Spirit of Saint Louis, and the Curtiss Racer, but I did snagg up the rest of them though. I really like the 1930s racers and planes like the Staggerwing, Spartan, Monocoupe, and Stinson Reliant are my type of planes. This years addition was pretty sharp looking, but I am holding out for a Piper Cub.

Re: And now for something completely different:

My simple answer is -- "No. I don't collect these, and I don't know why I haven't." The 30s planes are attractive and well presented. I've seen them at our Hallmark store in the mall for years and have done jack-squat about it. Would it be fair to say these are near 1:72? I'm looking at a Hurricane in front of me and it would be pretty large next to most of these.

Very nice collection!

Being the weirdo that I am, I measure each plane and did the math to find out what scale they are. Sadly, no two are exactly the same scale. They range from 1/67 (for the Monocoupe) to 1/118 (for the Wright Flyer).

How did I not see that coming? Given what Hallmark is doing, I guess it shouldn't surprise me -- but some of those are really quite sharp! I wish I had picked a few of these up when I had the chance.
