Model Rocketry

Yesterday I re-entered the world of model rocketry. I purchased a estes Mercury-Redstone kit and I was curious if anyone has one and if you have any suggestions on paint? I purchased an X-15 starter kit and after the first launch the ring that held the engine in place was loose so it ejected the engine on the apogee...obviously the chute failed to open and she took a fast nose dive into a playground nearly taking out a kid

Ya know what they say -"If at first you don't succeed, try try again"-maybe you'll hit one of the little bahstids next time.

Well, it doesn't look like a total loss. Good thing it fell on shredded barks instead of a solid pavement or heaven forbid....a kid's head.

Re: Model Rocketry

I use to do that rocket stuff as a kid..I built the Estes Saturn rocket and it only lasted one flight ....
The chute didn't open and it fell to earth nose first in the football parking lot and splat all busted nothing left .

Re: Model Rocketry

Yeah I consider myself lucky to walk away with just one missing part and a 2 inch scratch on the nose....Estes makes a flying Port-o-potty I think that's going to be my next edition to fly
