Re: "Dogfights!: Season 2 on the History Channel

Another great episode lastnight! Combat aircraft featured were EF-111 Sparkvark ( I would love to have this one for a diecast ), F-15Cs ( why no F-16s?), Iraqi MiG 23s/25s/29s.

Spoiler: I love the spectacular 'tripple bogey' BVR kills made by those Eagle Drivers towards the end of the show....AWESOME!!!

Another great episode lastnight! ... ( why no F-16s?)...

F-16s didn't do any air-to-air in Desert Storm. That had to wait until Operation Southern Watch, when they got the first ever kill with an AIM-120 AMRAAM. I agree that it was a fantastic episode.

Two more to go for this week, then back to reruns I guess...

I thought the desert storm show was fantastic, too -- though now I'm really wanting a Mig 25 and 23 for the cabinet...

Re: "Dogfights!: Season 2 on the History Channel

I love the show but the silly mistakes just kill me. I wish they would re-do the short-nose Phantom graphic which they use over and over for side by side comparisons between F-4’s and their adversary’s the darn thing is missing its rudder.

In the Gulf War episode the announcer confidently describes the MiG-23 a “twin engine” fighter while at the same time the multi-view graphic of the Flogger clearly shows it to be a single engine plane.

Yeah, there are lots of silly mistakes that bring down the "experience" a bit for sure -- sometimes it's like they have some unpaid interns doing the "research" for the writing team. But its the best dogfight show we got....

I also noticed that the CGI animators rendered modern flight helmets (HGU-50/P) worn by the F-4 jockys in Vietnam...but that's just
'splitting-hairs' for me and it really doesn't detract the overall quality of the episode....
