Arrow Who amongst you is Ex-Military?

Just wondering how many of you are current or ex-Military?

I served for three years in the Australian Regular Army (1986-1989).

Worked as a Silverfish (mechanical corps clerk) in the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (R.A.E.M.E.)

I was attached to a mechanical field workshops troop of the 26th Transport Squadron (First in, last out).

Anybody else or am I the only ol' bugger here?

Ex-Air Force from 1980-1986. Dad was AF also, from 1952-1978. I was born at MacDill AFB in Tampa, Florida which at that time was a SAC base.

Re: Who amongst you is Ex-Military?

Does being drafted count?

Served in the Dutch army, 898 Radiocie., from 06-90 to 09-91 in Ede (training) and Eibergen.
We listened in on Soviet/Warsaw pact army communications and tried to pinpoint locations where these came from. Interesting period then, build up to GWI and the Russian coup attempt.

Can we try with real bullets now?

Re: Who amongst you is Ex-Military?

2 years Ohio Army National Guard (MOS 17C), followed up by just under 22 years active duty Air Force. I remember my early days in the Air Force and the exercises on a SAC B-52 base(Castle AFB and we some times referred to SAC as meaning Stuck At Castle). Ended up my career on a Barksdale AFB and still briefing B-52 aircrews.

Talking Re: Who amongst you is Ex-Military?

I spent time in the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve during the '70s. No biggy. FYI: You're not the only ol' bugger here, mate!

Smile Re: Who amongst you is Ex-Military?

Served just short of 5 years in the Royal Artillery,British Army on the MLRS weapons system. Joined in 1996 and was mainly based at Albermarle Bks which is located just outside Newcastle Upon Tyne. (For those whom are interested if you place Harlow Hill into Google Earth this will bring up the Barracks next to a disused runway)! I completed 2 tours of Northern Ireland and 1 with the UN out in Cyprus. Visited Fort Sill and Fort Worth on an exchange visit in 98 which I throughly enjoyed. Miss the Forces everyday, alot of very good memories.
