(The) Eagles - (new Album) Long Road Out Of Eden

Well, it says "Anything & everything outside of our beloved hobby" (so here goes.........)

Have ANY of you Guys ( &/or 'Gals' ?) bought the latest/new 'Eagles' Album, " Long Road Out Of Eden" ?????????

I looked up on 'Amazon' & they reckon it won't be on release in the USA till tomorrow (30th Oct) ????????

((Yet some reviews from members of the public have appeared already (Boot-legs) ???????? ))

I went to buy my Son a Gift Voucher from HMV & the store has posters in the window & DOZENS of copies..........

It was only £ 8.95 so I bought it, but haven't (yet) got round to listening to it, as I also bought a few others (Foo-Fighters, Peter Gabriel etc......)

It's a Twin-Disc (2 x C.D.) Album - seems cheap ! (they've also used 'enviromentally-friendly' packaging !!!!!!!!!!!

According to the Track-Listing at the back - the last track on Disc 2, is a U.K. only 'Bonus-Track' (?)

Whilst in the store (unusually, as they usually play ***p) they were playing 'Hotel-California', followed by a track which (presumably ?) comes from this new Album, as Don Henly was singing Lead-Vocal (a track I've not heard before).

So, Have any of you Guys bought it ?????????
Do you intend to ?????????

Has anyone here already got it, or heard it in advance of it's 'official' release ??????????

I haven't heard anything from it yet. As far as the advance reviews, these may come from people who work in radio. Or, it may be record company types putting out media releases to drive up the public's anticipation.

Billboard.com gave it a fairly glowing overview. I hadn't even heard of it before today. For Joe Walsh's sake I hope it doesn't suck. He deserves that at least.

How annoyed was I (late) last night.........?

Split the packaging open, (shortly after my 1st post here), went to play it........
(disc.2), only to find a Dirty-great 'Glue' splodge on it !!!!!!!

'Bugger', I thought - So Today, made an extra (unecessary) 20 mile journey, back to HMV, the music-store where I got it from........

Explained my annoyance, & she (pretty-Lass on till) changed it over, for another new-copy.

I INSISTED on checking it out (condition) = seemed fine......... (left store)

Only when I got home, noticed on more careful inspection, that THIS ONE ALSO had some 'glue residue' on 'disc.2'
Hmmmmn !

So much for their boast about 'Re-cycled' "Environmentally-friendly packaging"

I'll take a 'standard' C.D. case ANYDAY of the week.......(after all, I bought it to keep, NOT throw-away )

Anyhow, 'Glue-Residue' aside, 'disc.2' plays ok.

Canucklehead, your fears (intially) will be unfouded ! (it sounds good, Honestly)

I grew up listening to (& playing) Joe Walsh tracks, on my (then) brand new (CBS-era) Fender Telecaster, which cost me more than my 1st car.....!!!!!!!!

Folks at the Church knew I was obsessed with "Walk-Away" & "Welcome To The Club" (which I played repeatedly !!!!!!!!)

Joe Walsh obviously wrote & sung Track 5 (on disc.2) "Last Good Time In Town" (which I'm listening to, as I type this !)
His Guitar Playing sounds as good as ever - the 'pre-chorus' on the track above, is typical 'Walsh'

I'd say this track reminds me (a little) of Steely-Dan(s) "F.M. No-Static At All" from 1978 (except the pre-chorus)
Mind you, the 'Trombone' & Don Henly's Tom-Tom's make for a STRANGE ending, to this track !

His Telecaster sounds Great ! (Bless Him !)

I also loved his track, "In The City" (from their 1980 Album, "The Long Run")

Hell did freeze over 1250!! As they say in the 'reckid' business "money talks and bovine excrement walks". Big money in nostalgia. The longest ever gap was the Cream reunion; 37 years and sounding as good as ever. Look at all the bucks Police are raking in. Got my first Eagles album in 1973 and by 1977 I was kinda over them. Don Henley solo material is superb; what a voice.

These might be the same folks that then work the late shift at IXO, HM, Corgi, Dragon, Forces of Valor, Witty, etc. with the sticky "glue" hands.
