You lucky dog! I got to see Liberty Belle when she was here in Wichita last month. They were just giving rides on Saturday when I went, so I was only able to snap a few shots of her with my antique Yashica-A camera as she idled inbetween flights. Matt, A guy I work with, went on Sunday as they were finishing giving rides. He said there was one last lady who wanted to take a ride, but they said no since it was not cost effective to take just one person - they needed at least six per flight. Matt overheard them tell the lady that they were taking off for St. Louis at about 6 p.m.. She could ride free to St. Louis with them, but she then had to get back to Wichita on her own. She didn't do it.

I'm pretty sure I would have taken that offer, then hitched the bus back to Wichita the next day. It would have been sooooo... worth it!
Call to boss at 6 a.m. on Monday morning, "Sir . . . I'm sorry. I won't be in today. I was kidnapped by WWII aviation fanatics and taken to another state. I managed to escape and am making my way back to Kansas today. I'll probably be in tomorrow. Bye-eye!"
