| Recommending Planes For Corgi's 2008 Diecast Lineup I'm sure that a lot of us have been watching anxiously as Corgi, under new management, contemplates its business plans for 2008 and beyond. Assuming that they continue to produce a quality 1:72 scale line and considering sensible profitability issues, including the ability to turn out numerous detailing schemes, making planes used by a number of Allied or Axis nations-if possible, etc What would be your top five picks? Mine are a Beaufighter in various marks, an A-20C/ G, an IL-2m, a Mig-15 and a C-47. While I'd much rather have an Oscar, Mc-202, PE-2, Val, F-105, Kate, FW-200, DO-17Z or Hudson-to name a few, I could live with the first five, mentioned above, and Corgi could probably make more money offering them. Does anyone else care to chime in with their own business minded advice for Corgi to follow when making its plans for 2008-2009? | |||||||||||||

| Re: Recommending Planes For Corgi's 2008 Diecast Lineup I'm not holding my breath for Corgi's future plans as I'm concerned that we may see them moving out of the established diecast 'Aviation & Armour' market (or drastically reducing their exposure to it) | |||||||||||||

| Re: Recommending Planes For Corgi's 2008 Diecast Lineup After the issue of the JU88 I hope the trend continues and they bring out more of the Luftwaffe planes like the Do17/ 217. Perhaps the Me410. A Tiger moth trainer would be nice to sit with the T6. | |||||||||||||

I some how starting to feel the same way about that......Ever since the new change and Nona being gone nothing has been the same with Corgi. I hope they stay in the aviation market. JP

| I feel sure the Corgi avation line will continue as it is possibly the only range in their line up which has true world wide appeal, the bus market is realy restricted to Britain, Canada, Hong Kong, Australia & New Zealand same goes for the 1:43 cars. The modern 1:50 trucks are big sellers in the UK but I think in Europe most collectors prefer the Tekno product, as for 2008 being realistic I would like to see the Dornier Do17 & FW Condor, with my silly head on I want a 1:72 TSR2 & a 1:72 Vulcan. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Recommending Planes For Corgi's 2008 Diecast Lineup How about some more WW I aircraft to be added to their "not yet released" Albatross and Se5a. Perhaps a Fokker D VII, Sopwith Camel, and Nieuport 28. | |||||||||||||

I would take all those Swoop, the SM 79 would make a brilliant piece of diecast for sure.

| Re: Recommending Planes For Corgi's 2008 Diecast Lineup I expect we'll see a couple of new main-line airframes, and one or two unusual types, as we have in the past. IMHO, Corgi is likely to give us, at long last, the Bf-110 (even though this is also going to be made by Hobbymaster, and possibly others). I would love to see Corgi finally issue a MiG-15, and possibly some other true Russian types, such as the IL-2. I am nearly certain that Corgi will issue at least one pre-J P-38 (with the art-deco radiator intakes), possibly Glacier Girl? Given Corgi's change in management, I think any guessing that runs farther afield at this point is bound to get it wrong. ![]() | |||||||||||||
