Re: Worst war movies you have seen.

Where to begin............Reign of the Gargoyles, SS Doomtrooper, new version of Thin Red Line, most movies that try to be the Dirty Dozen.

some of the best......Cross of Iron, Battle of Neretva (read about it on Wikipedia) great movie with loads of troops involved as well as a lot of original equipment

Re: Worst war movies you have seen.

I thought the Thin Red Line was pretty good. But it is certainly not your standard war movie.

The US Naval Institute published in this month's Proceedings magazine a list of the best and worst movies about the US Navy. Their worst list:

Ensign Pulver (1964)
The Navy vs the Night Monsters (1966)
Midway (1976)
Weekend Pass (1984)
GI Jane (1997)
U-571 (2000)
Pearl Harbor (2001)
Annapolis (2006)

Since I know someone will ask here was the list of the top 25 in chronological order:

Dive Bomber (1941)
Destination Tokyo (1943)
They Were Expendable (1945)
Task Force (1949)
On the Town (1949)
Men of the Fighting Lady (1954)
The Caine Mutiny (1954)
The Bridges at Toko-Ri (1954)
Mister Roberts (1955)
Away All Boats (1956)
The Wings of Eagles (1957)
The Enemy Below (1957)
Run Silent-Run Deep (1958)
Torpedo Run (1958)
Operation Petticoat (1959)
The Gallant Hours (1960)
The Bedford Incident (1965)
In Harms Way (1965)
The Sand Pebbles (1966)
Tora! Tora! Tora (1970)
The Last Detail (1973)
Top Gun (1986)
The Hunt for Red October (1990)
Crimson Tide (1995)
Men of Honor (2000).

Honorable mentions went to:

Hell Divers (1934)
Here Come the Navy (1934)
Follow the Fleet (1936)
Annapolis Salute (1937)
Navy Blue and Gold (1937)
In the Navy (1941)
Navy Blues (1941)

Operation Pacific (1951)
The Frogmen (1951)
Sailor Beware (1952)
Flat Top (1952)
An Annapolis Story (1955)
Hellcats of the Navy (1957)

Up Periscope (1957)
The Battle of the Coral Sea (1959)
McHales Navy (1964)

Re: Worst war movies you have seen.

Leave it to Jim to totally buck the subject.... ...That's what happens when ya go back to driving on the wrong-hand side of the road...

I would probably have to cast my vote for The War of the Roses with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner.........wretchedly awful movie and no airplanes....
