Re: Worst war movies you have seen.

You are just a mixed up little critter...

Actually, Jim, delusional would be the proper term.
or
a commie... only commies would diss the Duke. If McCarthy were still around, we would hold hearings on Skunky's commie/delusional/dissing Duke tendencies.

What am I suggesting!!?? Thank God McCarthy's dead.

Re: Worst war movies you have seen.

Whoa!.Have mercy..I've been called a lot of things, but I can honestly say I've never been called a "commie" before. In fact, I didn't think people were still slingin' that one around anymore.
Here's a serious question: Just what exactly was it about John Wayne that just the mere mention of his name inspires people to want to throw a 4th of July parade in February? Was a he a great war hero?..To my knowledge he never served a day in the armed forces or held any sort of public office even....Could it be that just because he played the part of so many men of valor that people somehow have confused the man with the characters he portrayed?. I think he was an outspoken conservative and all, but so are other actors, like Charlton Heston for example..But somehow I don't think that if I poked any fun at "Chuck" I'd be labeled a commie (although someone might come and take my rifle away from me). Moses just doesn't get quite the adulation a Green Beret or Flying Tiger does (not to mention he has no idea what kind of airplane he's supposed to be flying in Midway).

Someone please enlighten me...What am I missing?..I want to be able to freely idolize the Duke with impunity along with all my other fellow Great Americans...

I love the avatar, Elmer...Who is that guy anyway?...He looks like an all-American hero.....Someone should play him in a movie...Tom Cruise, perhaps?...

Re: Worst war movies you have seen.

Among the recent entries, "Pearl Harbor" certainly is the most idiotic. In addition to being special effects crazy, and full of errors---like the Japanese using Mitsubishi A6M5s in their attack rather than A6M2s--- the notion that one or two guys can shoot down the entire Luftwaffe fighter force during the BOB, then blast hundreds of Japanese planes out of the sky over pearl and wind up pulverizing Tokyo doesn't even belong in one of those old WWII comic books. But then, to top it off---as if we needed that--our plucky heros wipe out half of the Japanese army upon crash landing in China. This is a classic case of Hollywood thinking it can get away with anything on the assumption that moviegoers have no idea about what really happened.

On the positive side, while "Midway", is frequently bashed due to its horrendous visual continuity gaffs---as it deserves to be-- if the producers had devoted just a little effort to selecting the correct aircraft footage, this would have been an enjoyable film to watch.

I still don't get the part where 2 P-40 drivers are the only guys who can fly B-25's on the Tokyo raid

I loath the part of Pearl Harbor when he says "I think World War II just started"

Skunky, if you were to diss Chuck, someone might paraphrase him by saying "Take your stinking paws off the keyboard, you damn dirty skunk!"...

Maybe because he as an actor, he embodied all that is or was good in America. I also respect his deep love of our nation, and the freedom it gives folks. Yea he was a b-rated actor for most of his carrer, but he got his recognition eventually. Charlton Heston loses me after Solent Green and that monkey movie.
As for calling you a Commie, well heck thats just a generation thing. Atleast you were called a San Franciscan!!

Did you know that both Mr. Rogers and Captain Kangaroo were a couple of genuine bad-a** MFers? Rogers has at least a half dozen hand-to-hand kills to his credit and so many tats that he had to wear that sweater to cover 'em up....
