Re: Most Aesthetically Pleasing Plane of World War II

I'd have to go with the Spitfire! Second choice would be the F4U Corsair-love those gull wings on her!

Re: Most Aesthetically Pleasing Plane of World War II

I look at all my planes but I stare in wonder at my Grumpy 1/32 Spitfire.

I love Spitfires how 'bout you?!?!

Leigh-Mallory and his big wings! Might as well stay on the ground for all the use they are!

Re: Most Aesthetically Pleasing Plane of World War II

Sorry Skunky but compared to the Spit the P51 look pregnant with that belly.

Nah, ya got it backwards, Timbo: the P-51 looks anorexic with that skinny fuselage.

Nrrrm! Whoosh! Rat-tat-tat!

Thumbs up Had I been British...

I would have selected the Tempest II over the Spitfire as a work of art.

So, because I have always had a favor for radial engined planes, this would be my choice :

1) FW190A

2) Tempest II

Twins :

1) Mitsubishi KI 83

2) A26 Invader

Re: Most Aesthetically Pleasing Plane of World War II

I have to go with the Spitfire. Especially the BoB versions.

My second choice would have to be the Walrus.

...funny thing.... same designer..
