Re: Most Aesthetically Pleasing Plane of World War II

I have to go with the Spitfire. Especially the BoB versions.

My second choice would have to be the Walrus.

I couldn't agree more that the Spitfire- especially from the Mark XIV on - is a beautiful looking bird. But I was sort of counting on you of all people to support my first choice, the Mc-202.Sigh!

I prefer the look of the P-51B/C myself. Then its a toss up between the Corsair and Hellcat. But a sputtering Spitfire? Nope can't support that.

Re: Most Aesthetically Pleasing Plane of World War II

It is a virtual tie for me between the Mustang and the Spitfire.

You guys will probably think I'm crazy but the way I break the tie is to vote for the Mustang on the ground, where it has an edge over the Spitfire's u/c, and the Spitfire in the air, whose graceful wings give it the edge in flight appearance.

I know, I know... The Folgore has a certain appealing element of Italian design to it (much like I do ) -- it kinda makes me want to fire up an expensive Brasilia espresso maker or Olivetti typewriter... But c'mon: the Spitfire!

Hmmm... Maybe if the Italians spent less time on design and more on functionality... Nah, never happen...

Re: Most Aesthetically Pleasing Plane of World War II

I just can't think of anything that tops the P-51D in this category.

Sorry Skunky but compared to the Spit the P51 look pregnant with that belly.

Ooops!
