| Flood Rescue Diecast
Hope everything is still dry on top of your hill, Jim! I was watching the news yesterday and thought about you and your good woman. Then I thought : If Jim's house was in danger, what would he rescue first? We'll take it as read that your first thoughts would be for your beloved. But then, which of the diecast would be uppermost in your mind? This is : " Flood Rescue Diecast " A new Panel Game for Radio Diecast ( like " Desert Island Discs" on BBC Radio 4 ) For those of you who are not aquainted with the show, it has been running in the UK for about 50 years. You can hear it on BBC Radio 4 or BBC World Service. Or go to BBC.uk.com and listen to some archive numbers. Celebs and famous people have to select 10 pieces of music to have on a desert island. They are also allowed The Bible and one other book and a luxury item. Let's have our own version! You are allowed to rescue from the flood:
I'm saving mine for a bit because I would have to really think about it. MoMo

| Re: Flood Rescue Diecast OK, I've had a think about it. Here goes : one good woman...Check ! several deserving children....hard, but there are a few all pets...N/A at this time one good book......it has to be " Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man " by James Joyce one good album.......it has to be " Joe's Garage " by Frank Zappa your gold and money.....all spent on diecast, anyway! one sentimental object.......a photograph of me ( six months old ) and my mother and father five pieces of diecast.......one Whittmann Tiger, 1.72, Dragon; one CDC Panther in Sand; one 251 D Half-Track, Bohemian; one Corgi Bf109E-4/B ( Westpen Geschwader ).....the only wasp I like!; one Panzer lV H/J, CDC, with mesh skirts and turret armour. ask me tomorrow, and the diecast might change, but the rest remains the same. OH! I forgot to comment on why these five. The CDC Panther because it is the best and only fully true diecast Panther which I have seen and which looks right. The 251D because I like the paint job. The 109 because it was the first German diecast plane which I bought, and I like the detail. The CDC Panzer lV because the look is fantastic and the camo scheme is great. And, of course, the Whittmann Tiger because it is the first Dragon, and because the look of it is almost perfect for 1.72 scale. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Flood Rescue Diecast If the house was in danger of flooding what would I rescue first? ME! Lorraine would float anyway. Cats would sit on Lorraine, dogs would grab an arm each. Hmm, diecast is a problem,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I wonder how many I could pile onto Lorraine before she sinks? One good record would be Glenn Millar, In the Mood. One book would be the omnibus of poems by Robert Graves, (I lent that to some rotter and never got it back). OK its a bit soppy but I have a photo of my lad when he was 6 months old and it has a lock of his hair fixed to it so I would take that. Awe heck did I admit to that in front of every one, that will have killed my tough hard bitten reputation for sure. Diecast, no probs, first in the lifeboat would be the GMP P40 then the Swordfish (Bismark for sentimental reasons)..yep Carousel P40 then FOV because its an early version then a couple of Corgis P40s. | ||||||||||||||

| Starting with the easy ones first. One Good Woman: Babs heaven knows my life needs supervision & structure!! All children flown the nest. Pets: Sadly our cat Tabs has passed away. Book: A Bear`s Life: Rupert. It would bring back so many happy childhood memories. Album: Symphony number six "Pastoral" Beethoven. Played by the Concertgebouw Orchestra conducted by Bernard Haitink, the music speaks for its self. Money: Babs would take care of that. Sentimental item: The old biscuit tin that contains the storey of my life including birth certificate, pictures of my children, letters from my late mother & cards from my children, old Villa programmes & albums of Brooke Bond Tea cards. Models: 1. Sun Star 1:24 Routemaster bus: An excellent model of the worlds most loved bus. 2. SPTC 1:43 Feltham tram in 1946-49 London Transport livery. This is the best model I own, mine is number 4 of only 25 built.... the SPTC web site is well worth a visit. 3. Corgi 1:72 B17 Nine o Nine IMHO one of the best in the AA range 4. Corgi 1:32 Mossie AA36402 One of the better 1:32 castings from Corgi 5. Corgi 1:32 Bf109G "Barkhorn" As above. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Flood Rescue Diecast Jim and Starman are both sticking with their firm favourites. They know which planes they will be saving from a watery grave. While Jim dances with Lorraine, soaking up the nostalgia with Glen Miller ( and seeing formations of B17s and Mustangs as they wing their way eastwards ), Starman gets all Glitzzy with Kiss! While this is going on, Nimrod relaxes to the Pastorale, visualising all those Disney fauns and cherubin, as the waters slowly tickle his tootsies and force him to shift position on the comfy chair. Nimrod also gets his priorities right by saving the Brookie tea cards and his Aston Villa memorabelia In fact, everyone is quite sure about which sentimental or personal item they would save, I'm very glad to say! | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Flood Rescue Diecast
I was sorley tried on that one MoMo I have four so far RM254 which is my choice to be rescued but to have to abandon the Green Line coach, the 1977 Silver Jubilee & LT 50th anniversary models would be the stuff of a collectors nightmare. Also left to a watery grave would be three 1:24 LT Dailmler Fleetlines (DMS) & two Bedford OB coaches
