Re: Flood Rescue Diecast

I was sorley tried on that one MoMo I have four so far RM254 which is my choice to be rescued but to have to abandon the Green Line coach, the 1977 Silver Jubilee & LT 50th anniversary models would be the stuff of a collectors nightmare.
Also left to a watery grave would be three 1:24 LT Dailmler Fleetlines (DMS) & two Bedford OB coaches

Wow! That's quite a collection, Nimrod. I hope that you have them insured. I love the old buses and Tram-Cars ( read " Streetcars" in the U.S. ). In Glasgow we have a brilliant Transport Museum which boasts examples from what was the World's most extensive Tramway System ( Glasgow's ).

I cried when I saw the last tramcar's farewell in the early 60s. I also saw the tramcar Graveyard of hundreds of Victorian, Edwardian and George the Fifth trams rotting away, then being broken up for scrap at the old Depot.

Check out the website for good pics and intel on the buses and trams.

Re: Flood Rescue Diecast

Interesting photos MO, The colour scheme is the same as Halifax passenger transport buses.

I remember the old Bradford trolley buses, cheap safe transport but sadly they went to the scrapyard in the early 60s.

It seems those dreadful smelly diesel buses are better, I havnt quite figured that one out yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God Bless America.

MoMo if you love the old trams check out this link http://www.terryrusselltrams.co.uk/sptc_goddess.htm you just might be tempted, the models are resin & built to order the accuracy & finish are beyond reproach (as they should be at the price) as I have stated I have a LT Feltham by SPTC & am now awaiting delivery of a 1940 LT K3 Trolleybus SPTC number 434a.

A word of cautuon here purchasing SPTC models can be damaging to ones *wealth/*health (*delete as appropriate) I can not remember how I summoned up the courage to ask Babs if I could spend such an outrageous sum of money on a model but I think she was feeling guilty over spending £10 on a jigsaw puzzle, she almost always gets them for 50p or £1 from charity shops so playing on her guilt I reasoned to her that if she could squander money on her hobby then so could I .

Good choices, Nimrod. I've seen the 1.24 scale Routemasters and they are awsome!

I would rate 6 (of my 7) above my aircraft collection,

& I'm a life-long a/c enthusiast (& NOT generally into Buses) !!!!!!!!!

They are THAT good !!!!!!!!!

(Jacob's/Lock Tavern/Daily Express/Lucozade & 2 x 'Greenlines') also got the 'Gold' 50th Annv' 2911

As the 'Jacob's' 2902 cost £ 125, it gets rescued 1st !!!!!!!

(the others were around £ 75 - 80),

Dearer than my 4 x Corgi Lanc's & 1/32 Mosquito's !!!!!

Hornchurch

Quite a confession, Hornchurch, but I can understand your priorities, having seen the craftsmanship put into these miniature masterpieces.

I used to examine these models when I came across them in hobby shops. Although they have the appearance of being factory fresh and perfect in every way, I have the impression that they are peopled with the ghosts of Britain's past.

I wonder if anyone nakes models of buses in this scale which have been distressed to give them the appearance of being worn out and tired, like many of the old buses used to be?

Thanks for the link, Nimrod. I like looking at well made models.

Yeah Mo, most folks don't know, or realise JUST how good these Routemasters are !

A mate & I went to Modelzone in Bluewater, a few years back, as they were knocking out Revell/Dragon Ju.88 A.4 (Kits) in 1/48th scale, for a tenner each

Both of us went to the till, loaded, & some Jap' guy in front, & was buying 2902 (Jacobs), the second (& easily) the most sought after version (Route 272, to East-Ham)

So totally blown away by it, I enquired how much - he said it was £ 100 new, on special order - so I vowed I'd get one - not knowing (just) how limited the run is/was.

Well, 4 - 5 years later, & I've ended up with 7 so far (7 that will no doubt increase, as they're bringing out a Wartime R.T. (lust) !
