Re: Favorite Resturaunts ( a multipart question )

In Shreveport Louisiana they have a hamburger joint called Papa & Company. They specialize in huge hamburgers and Shrimp Po Boys. My favorite is their Cajun burger (You really have to cut it in half to get started on it and you need lots of napkins to wipe off the sweat).
Add on:
Burgers come on homemade sourdough buns that come close to ten inches across. Might just have to make a run over to Shreveport this weekend.

Have you ever ate at Podnuh's near the airport? I was there for training and it was awsome.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

I have been to most of the Podnuh's in Shreveport. By any chance did you try one of the Bodacious Barbeques in town? One out on Barksdale Rd. not far form Barsdale AFB is popular for its Botatoe. Another good one for Cajun style food in Shreveport is Savoies. Blackened Gator, Crawfish etouffee, Jumbalaya or boiled Crawfish if in season.

It's nice that you can eat out and collect diecast.
I make it to the local MacDonalds, that only happens on a week when I have not bought any airplanes of course.
I don't remember when I last ate at Micky D's.

Re: Favorite Resturaunts ( a multipart question )

I travel quite a bit and the highlight of my trip is usually when someone local takes you to a local gem be it a greasy spoon or fine dining.

Tops of my travels (in no certain order)
  • Highlands Bar & Grill - Birmingham, AL
This is a finer dining establishment than most on this list. While pricey the food, service, and overall experience was outstanding.

  • Stroud's - Kansas City, MO
The best pan-fried chicken that I've ever had. Everything is served family style. Impossible to leave hungry. The only problem with this place is the wait for a table.

  • Babe's Chicken Dinner House - Roanoke, Texas
They have a location here in Carrollton, but the original is the best. If you love fried chicken you'll love Babe's.

  • Peter Luger Steakhouse - Brooklyn, NY
I live in the heart of cow country but the best steak that I've ever had was in Brooklyn. If your ever in NYC you have to try this place. As you can imagine, it's not cheap, but it will be one of the best meals that you've ever had.

  • Carson's - (downtown) Chicago, IL
Probably the best BBQ Ribs that I've ever had, and I'm a self proclaimed BBQ connoisseur.

  • Superdawg Drive-In - Chicago, IL
I love Chicago style, NY Style, Vendor style, or what ever you want to call these decked out style of hot dogs. Order the Superdawg.

    - Nathan's "Slaw dog" comes in close at second place, and you can make them at home.
( to be continued... )

Re: Favorite Resturaunts ( a multipart question )

What's your favorite local. Don't forget to list your locale.
  • restaurants (can be anything)?
  • pizza place?
  • hamburger Joint?
What's the best restaurant that you found in your travels?

Local
  • Restaurants - So many good ones to choose from here, so I'll list my 3 fav ones
    • Iron Gate - Belmont - Expensive but the food is outstanding Mainly a French influence
    • Narita Japanese - Belmont - Outstanding Sushi - Reminds me very much of my time in Japan
    • Mistrals - Redwood Shores - Always a great one to take the other half to!!!
  • Pizza
    • Round table
  • Burgers
    • Taxi's - San Mateo
From my travels
  • Restaurants
    • Too many small family restaurants in Tokyo to mention (even if I did know their names!!!). These places are awesome.
    • Café Royal oyster bar - Edinburgh, Scotland - Outstanding - Trivia time - Was the restaurant featured in Chariots of Fire when Abrams takes the opera singer out to dinner.
    • Willi's Wine Bar - Paris - Small - Food and location are outstanding.
  • Pizza
    • Domino's Tokyo - Awesome salmon and clam pizza
  • Burgers
    • None especially come to mind.

Ooops!
