Re: Wheeler Field TH planes what are they?

Interesting photos. Perhaps those were used in the film classic WWI movies of "Wings", "Dawn Patrol or "Hell's Angels" during the 30s???

Excellent guesswork.
Caption reads:
Planes from 6th & 19th Pursuit Sqdns, Wheeler field TH, used in MGM picture "Hell Below"
Cast included -- Robert Montgomery, Snozzle Durante, Madge Evans.
This picture taken at Luke Field.

I love the affectionate nickname for Jimmy Durante
Now what type plane... it is not listed.

Re: Wheeler Field TH planes what are they?

The fighter planes in the first and third pictures look like Boeing P-12 Ds. Oops! Maybe I'm on the wrong thread.

Multi engine job looks a bit like one of the Keystone Bombers.

You got me curious now, I haven't seen the movie "Hell Below" yet...is it in VHS format or DVD? Thanks.
