Re: If you had to pick one.

Take the Lanc. You can replace Strawberry Bitch quite easily.

Re: If you had to pick one.

I would like to say Hello to all, It's been a while since I been on, I had to get my health issues straightened out, lost 60 pds and getting myself in to semi decent shape, To quote Jerry Garcia " If I had known I would have lived this long, I would have taken better care of myself". Back to the topic, I always thought it would be an earthquake that would do in my collection living here in Fallbrook, Ca, . But due to recent developments I have been notified that the town is under manditory evacuation because of a fast moving brushfire so I'm getting my most important things together and I've decided to take one of my planes. It has come down to either Strawberry Bitch or the Avro Lancaster Rhodesia. So I pose the question if you had to leave and could only take one plane in your collection would it be? THIS REALLY SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've seen some of the news footage, and boy-oh-boy, it don't look good, indeed. If I was in your shoes I'd grab the Lanc and vamoose. Forget the B-24.

In my case, if I had to make the same decision, I would say it would be the prized CPA Bristol Britannia that my Brother gave me for my birthday a few years ago. Only 1,300 of these were made and I have enormous sentimental attachment to it. (PLUS -- I have a spare Dambuster Lanc in a offsite storage locker along with PO•S.)

Good luck.

Re: If you had to pick one.

Thanks all. I made to the Temecula just to the north, I took the lanc. I tried to drive into Fallbrook but, was turned back, It is such a unreal scene, Electrical wires hanging but the telephone pole is gone., I can just imagined what it must have been like in Germany after the fire bombing of Dresden. I'll check back in as soon as I can get back into town....THANK YOU ALL. EDDIE

Re: If you had to pick one.

There's no place like home. Other than an inch of ash on my balconey all is okay....... The devastation is incredible. But one on the most spetacular events was watching a post WW2 Martin Mars water drop plane. Its a BIG 4 radial engine boat plane from Canada. When it flew over the house I was staying at it felt like an earthquake. It lands on the water and siphons up 7200 gallons of water and the drop will cover 3 acres. And if anyone here or a relative who is a firefighter, please thank them from us in Fallbrook, I saw trucks from all over California, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico.

Thank You all for your hope and prayers. Eddie
