For Petition Signers: Help save the VNY home of a B-25

Noticed this today. Van Nuys Airport (VNY) is closing its facilities to prop planes, which means the B-25 "Heavenly Body" will lose its hangar space. Go to the address below to find out more and sign the petition.

I am already on it. I do not think that it is legal to say that you can no longer operate an aircraft out of an airport due to the fact it has props.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

VNY is the closest airport to Hollywood. Sounds like the elites want it exclusively for their private jets.... 'Get those pesky little people in their Cessna's out of the pattern!'..

Blimey! I had no idea! Read and signed by me and my family. My son and I were able to do a walkaround of Heavenly Body in her VNY hangar last year. Very cool!

Signed up as well. Doesn't anyone out there have any respect for something of this nature. My 7 yr old son loves his 1/72nd verison of Heavenly Body, even he gets the importance of the plane. Heck it didn't even see combat right? Its more of a Hollywood prop than war machine.

Re: For Petition Signers: Help save the VNY home of a B-25

I also signed but I am still confused. Is VNY actually closing to propeller-driven aircraft or is it simply increasing rental fees? It appears this is simply an economic issue.
I read the petition and I question whether appealing primarily based on Heavenly Body's status will change anything. I think a better approach would be to emphasize the tradition of civil aviation and the economic benefits of non-jet aviation while also discussing the history and vintage aircraft angle. Perhaps some compromise allowing for a certain percentage of discounted rental rates for the small civil community, or an exedmption for historic aircraft would be better. It's usually more effective to protest with a plan than simply protest.
