I also signed but I am still confused. Is VNY actually closing to propeller-driven aircraft or is it simply increasing rental fees? It appears this is simply an economic issue.
I read the petition and I question whether appealing primarily based on Heavenly Body's status will change anything. I think a better approach would be to emphasize the tradition of civil aviation and the economic benefits of non-jet aviation while also discussing the history and vintage aircraft angle. Perhaps some compromise allowing for a certain percentage of discounted rental rates for the small civil community, or an exedmption for historic aircraft would be better. It's usually more effective to protest with a plan than simply protest.

VNY is the closest airport to Hollywood. Sounds like the elites want it exclusively for their private jets.... 'Get those pesky little people in their Cessna's out of the pattern!'..

I haven't yet had a chance to check out the petition. And, this sounds like something that the Hollywierd elites would try to pull. That leads me to ask- has Tom Hanks, Mel Gibson, Steven Spielberg, and Tom Cruise signed this petition? Each of these guys have made a lot of money making films about military and war related subjects. And, I believe Cruise owns a P-51. I would think he, of all people, would appreciate the predicament that the owners of "Heavenly Body" are in. Maybe if these guys get on board, VNY will drop its new "jets only" policy...
