Error in Ordering - Anyone ever?

Just got my shipment from an online retailer's big sale (5 planes total) and realized that the Corgi Predators Rudel Stuka I ordered (PR99401) was not there and another Stuka was (PR99407, boring follow-on plane)!

Looked at the packing slip and it shows PR99407, dug up the online confirmation and it shows PR99407! Now, I am pretty positive (99%) that I selected the correct plane (based on the image on the site, which was correct for the Rudel plane, I did not look at the model #) but obviously the retailer's system (automated to some extent) shows PR99407. Essentially, I am screwed...either I accidentally chose the wrong plane or the retailer's system is messed up and I have no way to prove it.

To make matters worse, the plane I want is sold out at the retailer. I guess I can return in for a refund but then I've spent 33% of the cost of the plane to return it and have nothing to show for it ($25 cost). I have contacted the retailer but I don't hold out much hope of a satisfactory outcome... In the end, I've got a $25 plane I don't want and will have to spend another $35-40 for the one I want!

Anyone else ever go through something similar?

That's unfortunate.

Not yet done something like that myself - I always make a point of verifying my order before I press the commit button.

Ooops!

Re: Error in Ordering - Anyone ever?

Now that really sucks. Just looked at both planes and the Rudel Stuka is definatly a better looking plane. The fact that you purchased 5 planes from this retailer might just make a difference and he might ship out the other plane at no additional cost if you return the one you got.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

Re: Error in Ordering - Anyone ever?

Yeah -- I'l admit to making a 'spaz' move like that last year. Same situation too. I couldn't find any back-up proof to say I didn't get the right one. In the end, I just swallowed my pride and ordered the ACTUAL plane again, this time taking precaution not to do the same thing again. (check, check, check and double check again) The 'mistake' is still boxed and will find a good home eventually. (Fortunately it wasn't an expensive bomber!) After I submitted a second time I was sent the 'correct' aircraft two days later. Yup -- I was a 'spaz' once.

That is why pencils have erasers.

Re: Error in Ordering - Anyone ever?

Have been in contact with the retailer - apparently the Rudel Stuka has been out since May. So there is no chance of a swap.

But I think I know what happened - He had the image of the Rudel plane on the site with the PR99407 model listing. I was looking at the picture and not the model number! I remember verifying the picture with another site (to be sure it was the correct plane), but I did not reference the model number! Now I am getting a little steamed!

Re: Error in Ordering - Anyone ever?

There are several online sellers---I'm not going to name them--- who have sent me the wrong items on more than one occasion. I attribute this to sloppy practices not intent to put one over on me. In a similar vein, the same sellers periodically send me unordered "extras"---again, as a result of sloppy record keeping---- while at least three sellers, including names that might surprise you, frequently loose orders. This is not a function of being out of stock but, once again, is due to sloppiness----in this case, failure to scan their booked orders. Sometimes these are long overdue pre-orders so I understand why this can happen. In other instances, however, the "confirmed" but lost orders are for recently arrived in-stock models so who knows why this happens. Bearing in mind that many online sellers are really mom and pop operations, I guess that such problems should be expected. I certainly prefer them to some of the eBay sellers I have bought from.

Re: Error in Ordering - Anyone ever?

Yep, ordered a couple of Hurricanes and a couple of Spits from the UK.
Got 2 Spits, a Hurricane and a Corsair. One digit difference in item #. Packing slip was correct for what I wanted.
Not my fault but it was cheaper to eat it and re-order Hurricane I wanted.

Re: Error in Ordering - Anyone ever?

I've had incorrect items sent to me in place of the one I had ordered. My package has been sent to the wrong address. I have been sent obviously broken items and seconds/returns--all purported to be new (tried to report that experience here--but was not allowed to do so).

In addition I've ordered some scratch and dent items (mostly damaged boxes only, or a minor "advertised" problem) and have had many surprises, both positive and negative. But these types of items cannot be readily compared to those which are supposed to be new and unopened.

When a seller with a regular retail business places the wrong picture with a stock number and the narrartive (if any) does not clearly tell the customer what he is really buying, that is almost always a problem that the vendor should resolve without cost to the customer.
