A-20 Havoc

I think that it is time for someone to make an A-20 havoc in 1/72 and 1/48 scale. The A-20 was used by a ton of countries, and there were a bunch of different variants that can be made using the same mold. Paint schemes are limitless with this thing. Anyone else want to see one?

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: A-20 Havoc

Sign me up for 2. I'd love a USAAF desert version with the solid nose and guns. Also a glass nose desert version used in the early years (either British or USAAF) would be great.

Re: A-20 Havoc

This is the one I want to see. This is the one preserved in the NMUSAF in Dayton.

Yeah, well, sign me up as soon as we convince someone to make it. I hate to say it, but I don't think it will be any time soon, unfortunately.

Re: A-20 Havoc

I think that the A-20 is one of those planes that would sell great among the collectors. No one else makes it, and you can make a ton off of one mold. Let's face it how many more Mustangs, Spits, and ME-109's do we need. Some may argue that no one makes a nice p-51D. Ok., but at least you have some choices in some other P-51's Everyone makes a friggin' P-51. Let's see an A-20, OS2U, and Helldiver.

Re: A-20 Havoc

I would think that the most likely manufacturer to take a stab at the A-20 would be Corgi. The plane was used by the Brits extensively in numerous roles and there could also be Russian, Free French and Aussie as well as many U.S. detailing schemes. With relatively slight modifications to the nose area and the dorsal gun position many different models could also be turned out. This was a very capable light bomber with an excellent war record and deserves some attention by diecast manufacturers. Another plane I would love to see Corgi consider is the Lockheed Hudson. Like the A-20, the Hudson was used to great effect in the early war years, especially by the RAF and various Commonwealth air forces. It also stars in many early-war movies and, like the A-20, should be a hit with diecast collectors.

Re: A-20 Havoc

Yeah that would be another great one. The A-20 is just a sleek looking aircraft. I think it is time to start seeing some of these aircraft.

Re: A-20 Havoc

I think you've come up with a great idea in the Boston/Havoc 1/72 Mustangdriver. There are a myriad number of schemes that would be collectable IMHO. From the early RAF glass noses, nightfighters, intruders, desert schemes, and Russian. Probably as many as the B-25. Not a huge amount of work for a manufacturer as the basic aircraft shape remained unchanged.

Re: A-20 Havoc

Thanks guys, I really think that this thing would be a hit, for both collectors and the company.
