| Re: Diecast, Significant Others, and You ... My lovely wife has no problems with my diecast collecting. Early in out marriage we decided to allow ourselves each a small allowance, a mad money account if you will, separate from and accountable neither to each other or the greater common household expenses. While not a large amount by any means, it is enough to provide for our various interests and hobbies. I occasionally buy her presents from my "special" account, as it shows she is more important than any hobby. Oh, and her "allowance" is more than twice mine. This system works fairly well. A win-win. My only problem at the moment is figuring out how to arrange the display shelves to accommodate the latest diecast acquisitions. I wonder if the old curio might accept one more glass shelf? It's a hard job, but somebody has to do it. ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Having just found this thread I thought I needed to respond! As mentioned ealier in another thread, my wife bought me my first FM F-16 that really got me started in big Diecast A/C. Since then my collection has grown considerably. The only problem is space. I have the majority of all my A/C on display, and she only asks me, where are you going to put that one, you are out of space, there is no flat space that is safe. She actually likes the planes and never complains, she just will not dust them after breaking off a pitot tube from one of my earlier models. Ok with me, I told her I would handle all of the dusting. She too is rewarded occasionally when I make her a new piece of 14K or 18K jewelry with some type of little bling blings, diamonds or colored stones! GBeck | |||||||||||||

| Re: Diecast, Significant Others, and You ... My significant other can't quite understand why a grown man needs to buy toys, but she doesn't give me any grief. This looks like as good a place as any to submit my adaptation of a popular list, only this one is: Top Ten Reasons Why Diecast is Better Than Women (feel free to add any you come up with) 1. You can enjoy diecast all month long. 2. You don't have to wine and dine a diecast. 3. Diecast doesn't get jealous when you get another diecast. 4. Diecast never has a headache. 5. If you trade a diecast for another one you don't have to pay alimony. 6. You can have more than one diecast and not get into trouble. 7. You can share diecast with your friends. 8. Diecast looks as good in the morning as the night before. 9. A diecast will always wait patiently while you play golf (or tennis, basketball, fish, etc.) 10. You can always pick up a diecast. | |||||||||||||
