Re: Diecast, Significant Others, and You ...

My wife is mostly a "dream" when it comes to my collecting. She knows that aviation, especially WWII aviation is my passion. During the course of our marriage I rarely
spent much money on myself. My collecting helps her rationilize alot of the money she has spent over the years on candles, figurines and don't get me started on the
shoes and handbags.

She knows that I shop for the best value and don't buy anything when the money get a bit tight now and then.

So it is pretty much all good.

Post Re: Diecast, Significant Others, and You ...

Mrs Nimrod has at best just tolerated my die cast collecting but then it was buses & trucks, since diverting to aircraft in the last couple of years there is a glimmer of interest in any WW2 plane that arrives.
She was almost doing summersaults when I announced my intention to sell the buses & trucks until she found out the money was going towards a motorcycle

For purposes of objectivity I asked my wife to choose the most appropriate poll option . She said she's a "dream" ...

Re: Diecast, Significant Others, and You ...

PS: Gort, thanks for starting this thread...I've really enjoyed reading the responses.

Yeah – ain’t this a kick in the head, Cap’? Lovin’ all of it, and I’m gratified that so many of our members feel their significant others are “dreams.”

I do find it enlightening, however, that nobody – nobody (so far) – chose the last option, which is a little suspicious. I’ll betcha a dime to a dollar that at least one of us would have chosen it, but his wife/girlfriend was standing right over his shoulder.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Wives are generally replaceable. Certain diecasts are not.

Diecast's don't get fat as time moves on. Just dusty.

Diecasts don't complain about my playing Counterparts and Presto at loud volumes.

Be sure that you show this post to your wife and/or girlfriend--either now or when you get one!

With regard to the third part, I'll be happy to fill in for her.

Re: Diecast, Significant Others, and You ...

My situation isn't exactly there. My wife has a problem with my collections. The cost doesn't really bother her as much as the storage space. She feels that the basement (which is where I store my stuff) will never be finished because I won't allow my airplanes/cars/miniatures to be displaced.

Re: Diecast, Significant Others, and You ...

My s.o. and I been married for 25 years and she knew going in that I've been a military aviation whack/nut-job and sicko collector before commiting to our partnership long ago. So it's not like she had a choice or say in that matter. But I know I have my limits and I'm extremely carefull not to push the boundary that I may later regret if she decides to call it quits, adios, bye-bye, see ya later!!!
