Thumbs up Panther Tank against T-34/76 - Real Footage

Hello again,

Found another good clip of a Panther firing on a T-34/76 (poor guys).

Blows the turret completely off its ring and the top armor plate takes forever to float back down from the heavens above.

Hope you enjoy!

Re: Panther Tank against T-34/76 - Real Footage

Actually its a KV-1 that has the upper armor plate from the turret ( which was welded inplace ) blown off, later to fall back into view. A Panther whould be hard pressed to completely knock that turret off. It also looks like two diferent sequences. The Panther looks like it has winter cammo on, while the victim KV-1 is still green. Dr. Joseph Goebbels propaganda at its best.

Nice catch Shawn. Your right that was a Russian KV-1 Heavy Tank that was blown to bits.

"Who cares if its propaganda", it still shows what the Panther was capable of doing.

Provided its not two seperate pieces spliced together. Notice the KV's turret is not even turning to engage the Panther.

Were the KV-1's still in service when the Panther showed up?

At the tail end of KV-1 life. Also, Panthers primarily faced good awful KV-1S version with reduced armor protection. The major encounters between KV-1 and Panthers only occurred during Kursk up to the time of fighting in Korsun pocket.

It should be mentioned that Panther despite suprior firepower was a very vulnerable tank that didn't have an aura of invincibility like Tiger I. Furthermore, most of the time it was spearheading armor counter thrusts and losses were high from AT guns and IL-2 sturmoviks.

Regards,

Sergey
