"Was" I am afraid.

I had to dismantle it, when I moved to my own flat in 2003.

It was far too ambitious anyway...

Pse CC, I would be curious to see the impressive list of your Märklin loks...?

Okay, just took these of my work-in-progress layout. Should be done by the end of October. Can't wait to get 'er into my basement....

Re: Who among us plays with model trains as well?

I like the water tower, remember having one of those on one of our Lionel layouts when I was a kid. Have two train shows coming up in November one in Marshall Texas and the other in Shreveport Louisiana. They usually have a couple of O gauge layouts and anywhere from 2 to 3 HO layouts for the show. Over the years they have also had some nice N gauge layouts too. Last year they had some fairly impressive O gauge locomotives, my favorite was rather large 4-8-8-2 Cab Forward locomotive.

I think nostalgia is the driving force behind my choosing Lionel. I could have much more trackage if I went with a smaller scale.

Speaking of big uns, I managed to score a Lionel O scale Union Pacific Big Boy and an Allegheny when they were released, but missed out on the the cab forward, which I really want to get. I also want to get a UP Veranda diesel one day, but the secondary market prices are crazy for both those....

Thanks, Eddie. I assume you mean the big yellow/green one and not the bascule bridge. The big yella is supposed to be a model of the Hellgate Bridge in New York City. I'm using it to cover the access to the center of the train table.

It's gonna run between 6 and 7 grand (in US currency, not that Canuck funny money stuff). The guy who is building it says I'm about $1500 from completion. BTW, this has taken about a year to do.....

I supplied all the track, switches, buildings, etc. The cost is for labor and raw material only....

It doesn't look overly impressive, but I can create and manage various consists to my heart's content. Creating the consists is the fun part for me. Running ovals gets old fast......

Your assumption is correct, so you did not "make as a$$ out of u and me!" Thanks for the history lesson, I've only been to the Big Apple once, don't remember seeing it (probably 'cause I didn't?)
