New York, New York | | | | Intelligence On WWII Diecast Aircraft For 2008 So far, we know that Corgi is doing a C-47, BF-110C and Blenheim MK IV in 1:72, but Dragon's plans remain a mystery. Perhaps they'll put out the P-38 in 1:72 or the Lancaster, HE-111 and HE-177 in 1:144 that were promised two years ago. Who knows? As for Hobby Master, they named a number of intriguing planes as "planned" or contemplated this year. These included the SB2C and P-61 in 1:72 and the MC-202 ( or Mc 205 ) and the I-16 in 1:48, but these never materialized. Are they being primed for 2008? The rumor mill also continues to churn over a possible Gemini Beaufighter, but this, too, is not confirmed. According to Model Power's latest poll, the TBF and BF-110 are likely winners for 2008, however, based on past experience with MP, it may take them until 2009 to get these planes to us and who knows what scales they will select---after all, they must fit into MP's standard sized boxes. Finally, there is the new Altaya Bombers of WWII promotional series which will include really interesting items like the FW-200, JU-290, Piaggio P.108, HE-177, Emily, Betty, Cant Z1007 and Short Sterling---all in 1:144 scale. Does anyone have any additional information to share with us on manufacturer plans for 2008? |
