I may be wrong but I believe the Japanese used copper and nickel jacket rounds (lead core) in their small arms. Would these rust? I couldn't say but I wouldn't be surprised if someone took a bit of editorial license by saying it was a rusty bullet - as hard as it is to believe journalist wouldn't be completely accurate in their reporting.

On a futher side note to Tyler109's post - as a Pontiac devotee and GM fan in general I am sad to report the Honda's and Toyota's my wife has driven never have a whiff of the rust issues my Poncho's have - then again, most of the one's I have owned were made in the 60's and 70's rather than the 90's and 00's for hers.
