Re: Quiz, Can you name this plane

That would be a Brewster XSBA-1 prototype of the short-lived SBN-1 scout bomber which entered U.S.N. service around 1940.

Absolutely correct, and it definitely has the Brewster family looks. I also found references calling it the Naval Aircraft Factory SBN-1.

I believe that the second one is an I.M.A.M.Ro. 51. Still working on the first plane.

I think the first one is a Meridionali Ro. 41.

I think the first one is a Meridionali Ro. 41.

Looks quite similar, but the Ro.41 had a two bladed propeller and wing strut layout was a little bit different.

On second thought, the first plane looks like a Fiat CR.40, the immediate precursor of the famous Fiat CR.42.

Will call this one close enough, it is a Fiat CR. 41 and it is down right hard to find a decent picture of it on the internet. I have have a picture of it in my copy of War Department FM 30-39 on Identification of Italian Aircraft and have picture in 1940s issue of Air News.

The Ro. 41 and CR. 41 do look very similar.
