Re: Quiz, Can you name this plane

The unmistakable underside of the Henschel 129A. With ? engines.
Argus springs to mind but not certain.

You nailed the plane and you are correct on the engines. Engines are Argus AS 410s. (Forgot to put the AS in earlier)(oops)

P.S. And that picture was not the best either, good call.

I believe that the original engines--before they switched to the Gnome-Rhone radials-- were Argus 465-hp 12-cylinder engines.

That would be correct too. Argus engines probably better known on Fw 189 and Arado 96B.

That would be the Ju 252, and what a beauty.

P.S. I was just looking at that one at German Air Force Pictures and they even have some uglier pictures of this one.

How about this nifty 1930s fighter plane?

Well at first I thought that based on tail and tail wheel it might be one of Vickers aircraft designs (Vickers Vildebeest in particular). But an inadvertant click down on the [url=http://www.aviastar.org site brought up the Westland family of planes and well this one stuck out real quick. Plane would have to be the most attractive Westland F.7/30. (Ugly and interesting looking at the same time.)

Correct. This mid-1930s fighter mounted four machine guns, but fortunately was not put into production. It would have fared pretty poorly against Germany's BF-109Es during the BOB.

This is my last plane for the day. Not necessarily looking for a hard one to identify just uglier than the one Epapazian posted earlier. I hope I have been successful.
