Re: Quiz, Can you name this plane

I see Cruver Collecter beat me to it. Just for the sake of clarity, the H220-2 was a prototype following which 6 machines were ordered for service evaluation. These were known as the NC-600.

You are correct. This plane had real potential but was more or less ignored by the French air force brass despite a top speed of almost 340 mph at 16,000 feet. It mounted three cannons, plus two machine guns and would have given the Luftwaffe's BF-110s a run for their money.

Last one for the day. This one has a two part question. What is this aircrafts civilian and military name. Still should be pretty easy.

I've always known this aircraft as the Flamingo so this quiz has taught me something new, the military transport version wast the De Haviland Hertfordshire. They should have stuck to Flamingo, much nicer.

Have another plane to identify and this is also a two part question. Plane is easy, but might have to do a little digging on engine name.
1. Name that plane.
2. Name of engines used on this plane.

The unmistakable underside of the Henschel 129A. With ? engines.
Argus springs to mind but not certain.

Its the early version so the engines are different than the production versions mark 2 onwards.

Hmmm.

Yup it must be the Argus but what horsepower?
Hmm (thinks again).

I know that the engines were seriously lacking in power and the Gnome Rhones (built in france) were fitted to cure the problem.
GR were aprox 650 horses so the Argus was considerably less than that so I guess 450/500 range but I cannot for the life in me remember what the Argus was rated at.
I could cheat and look up other aircraft that had the Argus fitted but I wont.

God Bless America.
