Re: Quiz, Can you name this plane

I'm struggling a bit with that one, a bit of reseach required.

Have a small clue for you on this one, it is one of the lesser know Italian bomber designs.

You would think with the RE on the nose that would be the case, but no to it being Reggiane make, they pretty much stuck to fighters. I did at one time have and Cruver ID model of this one a few years back.

But it doesn't look like a Fiat BR 20, which as far as I can recall, was the only twin-engined Italian bomber made in ID form by Cruver.

Not a Fiat BR 20 and Cruver made 16 Italian ID Models and two of these were twin engine aircraft (7 Fighters & 9 Bombers- 2 twin engine and 7 trimotors). Fiat BR 20 being one of them and the other being the one in still needing to be named. Fine Scale Modeler at one time published an article by Robert C Mikesh, which had a fairly detailed list of both WWII and Post War ID models.

Found picture of the Quiz plane Cruver ID model.

Re: Quiz, Can you name this plane

You are right. I couldn't find that old article in" FineScale Modeler" that listed all of the Cruver models. This is the Piaggio P.32, which is one of the Italian ID models I didn't happen to own. I must sat, it doesn't look much like the picture.

Re: Quiz, Can you name this plane

The mystery is solved. It's the Piaggio P. 32bis, a considerably more streamlined version of the rather ugly P.32.

You are correct and no it does not compare well with the real plane. At one time I had all of the Italian aircraft that Cruver produced, actually had both versions of the Fiat CR 42.

P.S. Fairly obscure aircraft and a real tough one to identify.

I must be slipping. I didn't even notice this one. It's a Miles M.20.
