That would be a correct on the USCG flying boat (You are right on the Japanese aircraft too.)..

Looks to be a Bleriot 125. French did have a thing for ugly aircraft.

Correct. The Poles made about a dozen of these monstrosities, which were probably inspired by some of the equally ugly French bomber designs of the 1930s. As far as i can tell, they were never used in combat.

This one is not the Dh. 88 Comet, but it sure does look very similar.
