This one is not in the Piaggio family. Added second picture of aircraft today, this one has engine cowling compared to early shot with exposed engine. This is definitely a tricky one to nail down. Unbraced sesqui-plane is something you do not normally see.

Second one not put out by North American. BT-9 also had that odd exhaust on starboard side of cowling. Not sure it BT-12 was minus this feature . The run on aircraft in picture was only around 25 aircraft. Aircraft also was unconventional in that a larger portion was constructed of stainless steal rather than aluminum.
