I don't know what to feel about this, amazed or sad.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

Re: sniper in Afghanistan

One Round, One Kill, Fast and efficient, there is no doubt about it those guys are the best. Hell of a way to go, but each shot is one less enemy insurgent to worry about.

Re: sniper in Afghanistan

Ok, not to be insensitive about this but did they hit the guy with a .50 cal Barrett sniper rifle? Anyone care to comment?

Re: sniper in Afghanistan

.50 cal is a nasty round when deployed against people. Looks like they're using a very large calibre weapon at extended ranges. I wonder at what range they're hitting, and with what weapon/ammo combo. That Barrett is an awesome weapon, cabable of hitting up to 1800 yards I've read.

Re: sniper in Afghanistan

Those poor bunnies! I just don't think they should be shooting rabbits for sport (unless they're in Austrailia, of course).

Fake! (Look closely)

Re: Sniper in Afghanistan

I can't see it here at work (blocked). But if its the video I suspect it is, then yes the sniper is using a.50 cal sniper rifle. Will confirm later at home.

That's exactly the weapon.

Re: sniper in Afghanistan

Judging by the severe impact I'm guessing that is a .50 round. Considering the damage they did to FW-190s, ME-109s, and Zeros it's not surprising. The movie 'The Shooter' starring Mark Whalberg is well worth a look as he uses a .50 for long range sniping. Based on the book by Stephen Hunter it is very realistic, and and does indulge in the normal Hollywood nonsense regarding shooting.
