Re: Guess the Plane

Not so fast Captain Eddie and flyXwire! Taube was a generic name, meaning "dove" in German, used for early monoplanes with a similar general lay out. So the question still is out there: What kind of Taube? I know the answer but I'll give you another chance.

Is it a Bath Taube?.....

Re: Guess the Plane

The WW I aircraft shown is exactly the same as in my book, "Fighters 1914-19" by Kenneth Munson," on page 81. On that page, it is identified as a Taube, porbably built by Rumpler, with a 100 hp Mercedes D.1 engine. Designed by Igo Etrich, an Austrian, in 1910. He negotiated a manufacturing license with Rumpler, who produced most of them until the outbreak of the war.

Is this a reference to " Captain Pugwash" and certain members of his crew ?
