Hughes H-1 Racer

I was watching the History Channel today, and caught a show on Howard Hughes. They had a segment on the H-1, and it occurred to me what a great large-scale model this would make. Has anyone seen this done in metal before? GMP - make it happen!

In case you are interested, you can view more information about the replica plane (which you have pictured) and its pilot, Jim Wright, which were tragically lost in a crash in August 2003. The link goes to the company which built the replica:

Re: Hughes H-1 Racer

The H-1 is sweet. GMP, Eagles or HM would be great for doing it. The real one is in the NASM. I saw the replica a few weeks before the crash. It was a beauty.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Hughes H-1 Racer

Did they ever find out what caused the crash?
