909 here in the bay area

Wow - What a weekend.

I've been lucky enough to have the Collings foundation B17 "909" and B24 flying directly over my house all weekend. (And I mean directly). The pilot of the B17 seems to have chosen the hill I live on to make his turn before going back to Moffet Airfield.

Wonderful site.

That's too cool.. I usually see them flying around town and that is my first clue that they are here..

I have but it has only limited zoom so the pic's arn't that good. The only time the B24 came directly overhead I didn't have it. He seems the be taking a much bigger circuit.

I'll see what photo's I have and try and get some up tonight.

I'll bet I know the hill you're living on, timbo. I used to work in Redwood City years ago. Take those pics!!!!!

Re: 909 here in the bay area

Hey, Timbo! You and me both!

They had the B-17 "Liberty Belle" at Jabara Airport here in Wichita yesterday and today. I went over Saturday afternoon to check her out. I showed up just as she was pulling in to a stop from one of her flights. I got some pictures with my old Yashica-A camera with B&W film (hope they're gonna turn out - I was kind of rushed). They were giving 30 minute rides in here for a mere $430. Ouch! I thought about it, but ended up passing. I'll probably regret it - once in a lifetime thing, ya know. Anyway, the "Belle" was on the tarmac about 10 minutes - just long enough to unload one set of riders and get the next set. Then I got to see her take off and do some passes before she headed out. Then 30 minutes later she glided back in for a landing to pick up the next set of riders. I finished off the roll of film (only 12 shots on 120 film) before she took off again. She was awesome! Not quite as big and loud as I was expecting, but still great. I have no idea how I could get pictures onto our forum since my shots were on real film - not that wacky digital stuff you whippersnappers have nowadays.

You guys know how sweet it sounds when a B-17 flys over your house.......
The sound of music...Only about every two years they come up here and when they do i'm there at the airport.
