| Re: Pics, under water ghosts of the pacific air war I was under the impression that the Navy salvage rights were for United States waters only. Kwajalein is a Trust Territory and would make you think that the Marshallese would have the first call on salvage rights. Wrecks might now also fall under similar protection afforded to those found at Truk. I know in the early 70s people were still pulling items off some of the wrecks at that time. Shoot the Macy West (Version of convenience store) had a .50 Cal off of an American plane hanging on the back wall. | |||||||||||||

According to the article, the US Navy owns rights to its vessels/property no matter where they are and for as long as they deem necessary.. BTW, great pics Phantom!!!!

Your right, the Navy does have long arms, but at least it would not apply to the Japanese aircraft there.

| Re: Pics, under water ghosts of the pacific air war I found this link with pictures of what looks to be Jake Floatplane off of Ebeye island in Kwajalein atoll. As a kid I remember seeing pictures of Mavis tail section and these pictures were supposed to have come area arround Ebeye also. It would figure seeing since Ebeye did have seaplane ramps. Just curious why documentary crew missed these planes. That and I remember seeing aircraft wreckage on Roi-Namur that some indicated may have been a Zero. site address http://www.j-aircraft.com/relics/dan...nham_jake.html | |||||||||||||

The fact that Kwajalein is restricted should definitely help with keeping these treasures secure.
