A couple of Legends

Today I picked up Tex Hill at the airport as he is attending our autograph event here in Houston. Also attending the show is Dick Cole, Doolittle's co-pilot on the Tokyo Raid. I took Mr. Cole and his daughter out for dinner and had a nice chat. I will be spending the next couple of days with them, and if you have any questions I will be happy to get the story. from them direct.

Re: A couple of Legends

How cool is your first sentence? Can you ask Cole what is was like to fly with Doolittle? That must have been some time.

Re: A couple of Legends

Well MD, Dick Cole said that Doolittle was HIS hero growing up. He used to ride his bike as a kid to the airport in Dayton, Ohio and watch him fly! We also discussed the B-25 that was reportedly found off the China coast. We also discussed what became of his bomber and what they were to do with them if they did make it to a safe landing. They were to turn them over to the AVG Flying Tigers!!! Dick returned to China to fly with the First Air Commandos. Last month he was invited to the show in Dallas and they took him up in a B-25 and he flew it from take off to landing. When asked if it was like riding a bicycle, he laughingly responded "Yea, but with training wheels"

Thanks man, Hey if you get a chance, can you ask him if he remembers what the nose art looked like on the Ruptured Duck? there is some dispute over what it looked like.

Warhawk, you sure you wouldn't like to adopt me and take me along with you? Or, as I may well be older than you, how about I adopt YOU?

Re: A couple of Legends

Wow! Walking with and talking with these guys must be awesome. What thoughts go through your mind when you're flying over sea knowing you're running out of juice?! Hectic!
