Re: eBay Bozos

I have made more than 300 buys on Ebay mostly from one seller on planes. Overall he has done an excellent job for me. I dont think the boxes are ever perfect perfect, even when the dealers get them in from the mfg. So I dont go crazy on the boxes anyway. I had one model and it could have been damaged in shipping. He replaced it for free, all I had to cover was shipping and he let me keep the defective plane.

I love Ebay, I have gotten some amazing deals, I have found some things that I would never have gotten if not for Ebay and the world that it brings to me.
There are some turds on there that overcharge for shipping or take sales on planes that dont exist but if you have even half a brain it is pretty easy to shop safely and get some great things for yourself on there. Here are some of the recent comments my seller got on there from customers buying diecast. You can read the comments and tell alot about a seller. You can also tell if you are looking at an arse of a buyer too , read between the lines on some of them. The comments show you what was bought and what the buyer thought of the seller.

Great price! Great service! Thanks!Buyer: jeffreym2388 ( 268)

Re: eBay Bozos

I just had recieved my first damaged plane via E-bay. It was Aeroart's P-51 "Mary Mac" and two of the props were broken, Even though they are easily glued, Here is the diclaimer he had:

- MIB. This model has NEVER been removed from BOX.

- Box is also in excellent condition;

- Highly detailed model.

- Not suitable for children under 14 years old.

**NOTE: We are not responsible for damage that occurs during shipping and do not offer refunds, credits or exchanges. These are rare models in very limited quantities. We inspect each of our items carefully prior to listing for sale/auction and disclose the imperfections that we discover. We do NOT list items that are damaged in any way.

Please refer to our ebay rating/track record as evidence of our integrity and continued high quality service. If you are uncomfortable with our "no return/credit/exchange" policy, please do NOT buy/bid on the product

I guess it's a hit an miss with the sellers.....

Re: eBay Bozos

Let me tell , many times I think shipping damage can occur and most likely some customer accidents can happen too. If the seller offers insurance you should take it if you going to worry about damage all the time, I have gotten more damaged planes from sellers than Ebay and they offered nothing to me to compensate and it was absolutely due to poor packaging.

One dealer in particular , I have gotten two shipments from and both has damaged planes and both were packed poorly with not enough packing material.

Ebay is not unique to issues and I have gotten more good than bad and the best prices anywhere.

Of course no one wants to talk about the good things about Ebay, the list is long.

Not so, flaps. I’m the first to admit that over half of the models I’ve purchased on eBay arrived exactly as promised: MINT. And I’m pleased to say that many of the individuals I’ve done business with have been top drawer.

On the other hand, I’ve run into some real poop heads over the years, too.

This particular eBay seller falsely advertised that the box was MINT – which I predicated my buying on. He posted a picture of a MINT, unmarred, completely pristine box (including perfect see-thru panels). What I received was crap, through and through: box rash, crimped and bungled see-thru panels, etc. And having bought and sold many models on eBay myself, I know the difference between shipping damage, klutzy, indifferent sellers and outright fraud.

It’s true: eBay is a great place to shop, and mostly, if you know the ropes, you can avoid hokum; It’s just that far too many unprincipled, deceitful sellers hijack eBay’s otherwise good name.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Re: eBay Bozos

I think I might have the ebay sory to top all. My friend lives in Ohio, and bought a very expensive train off of a seller. It was upward of $300.00 He paid the minute he won, because he was making sure no one out bid him. The guy said it would ship out right away from his house apt. in New York City. The guy never shipped the model, and e-bay closed his account down as a result of a different sale. My friend had paid, and no model. When he e-mailed the seller, the guy said he was going to take care of it. Two months later nothing, and ebay said that too much time had passed for them to get involved. My friend had found the seller online in a forum talking about how he made out. This made him upset. He had his home address from an e-mail he had sent, so while he was in New york visiting his friend, they went and visited the seller at his house. he knocked on the door, the guy answered, and my friend said, "Go get my f@#$;ing train". The shocked guy could do nothing else, but go and get the train for him. Moral of the story? Never underestimate what a motivated Italian guy can get accomplished with an aluminum baseball bat.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Way to go...

I sure hope I should be able to do that if the need arises... Law can be such a hassle nowadays.

Shame for the seller!

Well, the title of this thread kind of leads to mentioning BAD things that happened on e-bay, so...

But you make a good point, even with my one (really) bad experience, I'm still a very big fan of e-bay for acquiring diecast models. I sure got some outstanding deals, and the vast majority of sellers are great.

Re: eBay Bozos

I too have had the odd bad experience with Ebay sellers, but these are no more frequent per transaction than I have had with on-line diecast dealers. In both cases most sellers will respond to a legit complaint, although some will not do so until you throw a stink bomb into their little world. Both groups have sent me damaged, returned or obviously use items which were advertised as being new or mint in box. Such experiences affects not only whether or not they will ever receive another order from me, but also whether I will ever include them as one of my "Diecast Buys of the Week", I write for our KG web site. See:

http://www.kampfgruppe.us/showthread...2827#post42827

My wife harps upon checking the feedback given to Ebay sellers. She will not just look at the numbers, but read the negative comments, even if there are very few. I also believe that I am helped by our fairly high number of transactions on Ebay as both a buyer and a seller and our 100% positive rating. We are not likely to be seen as a scummy, scamming buyer by a seller who has been stung by that ilk. Our complaints will more likely be taken at face value because of our track record.

Wow, IXEC, that is some solid advice. I have taken the liberty to copy that to my hard drive, just in the unlikely event, Thanks!

Thumbs down Re: eBay Bozos

I had one and only one bad experience with eBay; my first and my last. It had nothing to do with die cast aircraft models, thankfully. No, the issue was two egg colddlers I was getting for my wife. I won't go into details, but it was a real Chinese Fire Drill involving PayPal, eBay and to minor extent, me. I was fed up and won't use them again. Too bad, but once burned..................
