Re: Bye, Bye Baby (Baby, Goodbye)

Wow! We never see anything like that here, PappyB. The best I've seen and bought were some " Aviation Archive" items at half price and a good few Dragon 1.72 Warbirds at $12 each. But, I've never seen anything as good as a Belle 1.72 at $29. I'm surprised that you didn't buy the lot to trade them!

Me too, Mo...

This was during the famous first Corgi dump at TM. I was one of the first people to hit the store near me, and the only one that made a beeline for the toy aisle...

There was an entire endcap with 6-8 Memphis Belles (I already had one so I left 'em for those that didn't -- never thought this model woudl carry a premium pricetag or I might have snapped 'em up... at least one...), there was one B-24 Skywitch, which I did nab; a 1:144 B-52, which I did nab; and a 1:32 Old Crow OD P-51, which I nabbed and then returned as its canopy was cracked...

And they had a few night He-111s for .... $19!!!, too (but I already had it, so left it...)

I was a bit short on funds when The Big One hit -- murphy's law ... there hasn't been anything good there since. And subsequent Corgi dumps had higher prices -- heavies bumped to $39, mediums to $29... I did get the 8th air force set later at another TM for $40...

The message: strike while the iron is hot, I suppose.

Hey PappyB, I don't know if you remember this but I bumped into you that day you were returning the 32nd OLD CROW Stang becuase of a busted up canopy. I even remembered you mentioning about the B-17 MB were abundant at that particular TM, and I immediately made a bee-line sprint towards the shelf were these where, only to be disappointed that these were already gone! To this day I've never forgiven you for dashing my hopes. Kidding only....
Anyhoo, I should've bought that Old Crow Stang you've returned, as looking back now, I could've fixed that busted up canopy myself and would be enjoying a $40 purchase of a deal!

I sure do, Fly -- you should have taken it (they simply discounted it another %30 I believe and put it back on the shelf -- off the original price of $29 -- because of the crack), so it could have been yours for $20 (or should I not have told you that... ).

If it makes you feel any better, I didn't really like it much -- crack or not -- which I chock up to having owned GMP's silver Old Crow already...

(ANd thanks again for stashing that 8th AF set over in Folsom for me.. )

Re: Bye, Bye Baby (Baby, Goodbye)

Had a chance to purchase a USAAF 8th Army Air Force, B-17, P-47, P-51 3-Plane Set for pennies on the dollar. Did I get it? Nope. Didn’t particularly like the trio. Now TFM’s selling the set for $149.99.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

TFM"s always been selling that for that price Gort, though not sure that will make you feel better -- that's the MSRP... some sites even list it for more. Not sure I'm helping you here...

For pennies on the dollar, it's worth it for the Rozzie Geth -- yes, I like "noseart" -- (even with my preference for Dragon jugs). The B-17's grown on me, too... the P-51, well -- it's a paper weight. And you just have to enjoy the humor value of the War in the Pacific theme

Re: Bye, Bye Baby (Baby, Goodbye)

Diecast planes no, firearms yes. I'd really like to get the firearms I've sold over the years.

And me too !
The infamous EU legislation, forced me to get rid of most of my rifles in the 90's.

I notably regret my 3 superb "UNIQUE" rimfire rifles, and even more my rarest and most valuable rifle : the fabulous FAMAS 222 rem.

I remember somebody offering me 1500 euros for it, but I refused because not keeping it was just unbearable.

However, when some years later, I had to let it go nevertheless, it was for...500 euros as there was no market anymore !

Gun loving is a criminal offense here... Happy, free America !

Re: Bye, Bye Baby (Baby, Goodbye)

As far as diecast are concerned, last year I reluctantly decided to sell all my 1/72 Gaincorps...(I needed cash for the trip of my sweetheart from Siberia...! )

This year, remaining single, I began to miss my Gaincorps... Now, I have replaced most of them !
