Hitler's Hat Trick

Caveat: This article might twiddle a few anger bones, and said bones may want to paddle this old robot’s hide – but please forbear. I’d just like to get your take on Mr. Rees’ Herr Hitler screed. You'll find it quite informative.

Think there’s any truth to it? ‘Cause all I’ve ever heard is that Der Fuhrer was a rat coward with a great PR team. You’ve gotta wonder how the world would have turned out had Private Henry Tandey pulled the trigger.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Makes you wonder that whether for good or evil, certain people must have a specific destiny.

I am pretty sure mine is to collect diecast planes!

Re: Hitler's Hat Trick

The world would be a better place if Hitler had killed himself in 1938.

Re: Hitler's Hat Trick

If this is an area of interest to anyone I would like to suggest an excellent book by Joseph E. Persico titled 11th Month, 11th Day, 11th Hour - Armistice Day, 1918. World War I And Its Violent Climax. This is an excellent book on the last days of WWI and follows the lives (and deaths) of many people through the period, including Adolf Hitler. Fascinating background into his life as a soldier and how some of his ideas were formed here. It will also anger you a great deal to learn of the stupid and needless casualties inflicted in the last hour of the war for no other reason than pride and politics.

Re: Hitler's Hat Trick

Very interesting. Even if Pvt Tandy had pulled the trigger there would have been someone else to take his place for the next round.

The tinder box was the humiliation of Versailles. All he did was provide the spark. Who knows what would have happened. Most probably Germany would have gone Communist, as they were pretty much competing with the Nazi party on who go to the top of the heap quickest. It was some skillful maneuvering by Hitler that got him appointed Chancellor in 33. From there it was just down hill all the way.

I dread to think what would have happened if Germany had gone Commie in the 30's.

Ooops!
