Dragon's P-47 "Okie" is the one that took my breath away when I opened it. The detail is incredible!

Re: The Very Best Yet Made

I just ordered this Swordfish from JoePilot today:

Once I receive this bad boy, I'll probably consider it up there with my other favorites. You guys are to blame for all this!

My "best" model? My Corgi "Acroma" JU87 Stuka. Love the paint scheme and the quality of the mold. And I don't even like Stukas!

Re: The Very Best Yet Made

Horrido, that's a nice piece of diecast! I don't have an Exoto, but the very best piece in my collection is a Franklin Mint Aston Martin DB5, 007 Edition. No pics (yet).

Yeah I like that one two. It must be those red outlined insignia all over it. Its a pity the pilot was murdered after being shot down.

MAN?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I don't even know how you all can answer this question? (maybe It just seems tough for me because I don't have any Dragon; Carousel; GMP; Eagles I.; or Corgi Swordfish in my collection. )

Louie....ONE?????

First, I concur with EVERY word quoted above by HotTrap429 about the Corgi Acroma Stuka and would put the following as the best in my collection. I can't even put one above the other in a "ranked" list:

Corgi Stuka (above)
Corgi B-17 "Bit O Lace"
Corgi Mosquito - BANFF Strike Wing
Corgi Corsair - Battle Scarred - White 167
Gemini Spitfire - USAAF Freddie Ohr
Hobby Master Avenger - George Bush
FOV Zero - Pearl Harbor
Matchbox P-47 - "Gabbie" Gabreski

Post Re: The Very Best Yet Made

As far as production values go my HM F-104C " Really George" is about as good as 1:72 diecast gets IMHO.

Re: The Very Best Yet Made

There is a risk in discussions of this nature to forget the larger planes. For example, Corgi's B-17G or B-24J and even the HE-111, when detailed correctly, are very superior diecasts. Nevertheless, I have always regarded Dragon's initial Pearl Harbor "Zeros" , even without pilot figures, as the best I have seen. Now, however, newer entries, such as Carousel's FW-190D, Hobby Master's "Avenger" and good old Corgi's "Swordfish" and "Gladiator" rank the highest. If I had to pick one, I would opt for Carousel's "Dora".

Re: The Very Best Yet Made

Seems like we are getting some repeats now and this is good. Can a poll be added that includes several of the top choices so far?

Like to see it....seems like the Dora and GMP P-40 are in a close race w/ the Swordfish.
